Hey guys! I know I haven’t been as consistent as usual and I am SO SORRY! I have really been in a place of self-discovery both spiritually and creatively. I promise that I will be giving you guys so BOMB content soon!
Enough about me, let’s talk about my girl Bee! Bee is my sorority sister (my linesister to be exact) and she is the Founder and main writer on her blog BEvolved! She has given us an inside look at her own #CarSeatChronicles and I just know you are going to LOVE it! So here we go!!
So exactly what would you say is time well spent? Personally I would say time best spent is time on experiences; and believe it or not many experiences are free! While it’s great to travel to the islands and out the country I promise you that I have found some of my best adventures in my own backyard. Every home town has tons to offer you just have to be willing to embrace it.
For example, this summer I made a bucket list to be a “tourist” in my own city. I’m from Maryland however I neighbor Washington DC (I live about 15 minutes down the road). So this summer I made it a point to do a lot of activities in Maryland and DC. I took a Cheery Blossom cruise that traveled the Potomac River. My best friend and I grabbed a map and traveled to all the national monuments by foot. For the first time I got to see the Martin Luther King Monument. My cousins and I took a Segway tour around DC and came face to face with the White House. I visited Great Falls state park for some amazing views. Lastly, I visited the Newseum, but trust me there are dozens of museums in DC.
The one thing on my bucket list that I didn’t get to do was visit Go Ape. Go Ape is a Beyond the ropes course that has obstacle courses and zipping throughout. Believe it or not I got in some great exercise on these trips because of the walking and hiking involved. Every year around Christmas time I go to the National Zoo for the Zoo Lights Festival. This year I am going to try my hardest to get my hands on tickets for the new National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The next time you think about taking a break from your daily routine consider a staycation first. You will be amazed at all your hometown has to offer. And if you don’t know where to start visit onlyinyourstate.com. They have the best adventures, food spots and more all categorized by state. Best of all when you do travel around the world you will know more amazing things about your own state to share with the new people you meet.
I wish you the best adventure time!
